Google to Keep Employees Home Until Summer 2021 Amid Coronavirus Pandemic
New Normal this – New normal that. Google now joins the new normal protagonists of remote working.
With the Coronavirus ravaging all corners of the US and showing no signs of relenting, Tech giants Google have asked employees to keep working from home until July 2021, pushing their original return slated for end of this year.
The move will affect almost 200,000 employees, both full time and contract, and this has been seen as a sign that many major corporations are going to follow.
Employees at Amazon were originally told to work from home until October 2, which was later extended to January 2 next year. Microsoft employees could be among the first to return to the office with a planned reopening in October. All of this is very much subject to change. The coronavirus spread is rampant.
In May, Twitter announced it would allow its employees to work from home indefinitely, if they choose to do so.
